Illustration

While my book projects have been coming along slowly but surely, I have been working on this portrait as well. This is a piece for the boyscout camp, Camp Squanto, in Plymouth MA. depicting the Native American Squanto. The second picture was generously provided by Jenny Whittier (the woman on the left), of a celebration for her father (the man on the far right) and the unveiling of the portrait. So rarely do I get to see pieces I have done in action, so this was a real pleasure to see. Mostly for the smile on Jenny’s father’s face.

It took me for ever to post these unfortunately, but here they are! I just got back from a New York trip last night so that’s my excuse for these being posted so late. Of course there are other pictures but who needs to see so many versions of the same thing? Not me or you. These are from my senior thesis show at CCA and, as you can see, I also made cookies to induce people to like my illustrations. I’m hoping it worked.

This is the final version of the spider piece I posted awhile ago. I did a watercolor version of the piece and then did a digital composite with the original graphite drawing to get it to this stage. The whole process takes awhile and I think I need to experiment with other techniques and mediums to pick up the pace…
